The Vurcon PL-63x4000 is the variant with a distance between centers of 4,000 mm of the PL-63, the top position in the Vurcon family of flat-bed CNC lathes. It combines the maximum swing over bed of ø630 mm, the maximum spindle torque of 2,000 Nm and the longest length in the range, aimed at heavy industrial parts where the critical factor is the sum of diameter, torque and travel.

• Maximum spindle torque of 2,000 Nm with automatic gearbox: a transmission specific to the PL-63 with 3 mechanical ranges and electronic variable-speed drive, which keeps torque available across the entire range of 21.5 to 1,200 rpm. On long, heavy parts, this torque capacity is what allows large depths of cut without loss of speed.

• Reinforced structure and guideways for a long bed: Z-axis guideway width of 600 mm and on the X-axis of 300 mm, spindle center height of 1,075 mm and tool dimensions of 32x32 mm. An assembly designed to maintain rigidity and accuracy over the maximum length of the series.

• Spindle sized for large diameters: ø104 mm spindle bore, A2-11 nose and manual 3-jaw chuck of ø325 mm as standard. The manual tailstock with a quill of ø150 mm and taper MT6 can hold heavy parts with the rigidity needed for demanding roughing work.

Control and ease of use

The PL-63x4000 is equipped with the CNC control SIEMENS 828D with SHOPTURN and advanced technology functions. SHOPTURN simplifies the programming of heavy turning cycles through guided graphical menus, an especially noticeable advantage on long parts with extensive programs, where manual G-code programming would multiply setup time. Standard equipment includes mechanical handwheels with adjustment dials, lubrication system, coolant, three-color light tower and CE certificate.

Configuration options

The PL-63x4000 accepts specific configurations for heavy production of long parts: hydraulic tailstock, hydraulic chuck for automatic clamping, additional steady rests adapted to the predominant part diameter and chip evacuation systems for intensive machining.
