Machining Center Vurcon VL-137
The Vurcon VL-137 vertical CNC machining center is a high-performance solution for precision machining in steel, aluminum and cast iron. Equipped with a 10,000 rpm BBT40 spindle and an advanced CNC control, it ensures optimal surface finishes even in continuous production cycles
3-axis vertical machining center with 750x1400 mm table and 1300/750/750 mm travels, with BBT40 spindle at 10,000 rpm
The Vurcon VL-137 machining center sits between the VL-127 (1200 mm in X) and the VL-147 (1400 mm in X) as an intermediate model for medium-to-large parts. Its 1300 mm of X travel, 750 mm in Y and 750 mm in Z cover a common segment in workshops that need more longitudinal and cross capacity than the VL-127 without taking on the cost of a VL-147.
Its table of 750x1400 mm, the weight of 11,000 kg and a spindle head BBT40 at 10,000 rpm with a motor of 15/18.5 kW (S1/S6) make it a balanced option for sectors such as die making, automotive or aerospace. The rigidity of the taper BBT40 —dual contact on face and taper— improves toolholder behavior at high speed, maintaining consistent surface finishes in long cycles.
What jobs is this model ideal for?
-
Large-format dies and molds: Mold bases and base plates that require X travels over 1200 mm, where the VL-127 falls short.
-
Aluminum aerospace components: Structural parts and frames where the spindle of 10,000 rpm and the 18.5 kW allow high cutting speeds and heavy stock removal in light alloys.
-
Steel and cast iron machining in medium batches: Maintenance parts, tooling and industrial components where the robustness of the 11,000 kg ensures sustained accuracy.
-
Medium-to-large automotive parts: Machined housings, brackets and blocks for manufacturers and suppliers that need consistency in continuous production.
Key profitability points
-
15/18.5 kW motor (S1/S6): One step up from the VL-116 (11/15 kW), providing the additional power needed to handle deeper cuts in steel and cast iron without sacrificing machining speed.
-
Travels of 1300/750/750 mm: Usable volume of 0,73 m³ that brings in-house work on medium-to-large parts that would otherwise require subcontracting or successive repositioning.
-
BBT40 taper at 10,000 rpm: A combination designed to finish at high speed without losing rigidity, extending tool life and maintaining surface quality in long batches.
-
30-tool drum-type magazine: Makes it possible to group part families in a single configuration, reducing stops for tooling changes.
-
11,000 kg construction: The structural mass absorbs vibrations in roughing operations and maintains geometry even with parts off-center on the table.
Control and ease of use
The VL-137 is available with the controls Fanuc, Heidenhain, Fagor and Siemens depending on configuration, both compatible with the most widely used CAM post-processors on the market. This choice makes it possible to stay consistent with the existing machine fleet, shortening the operator's learning curve and making use of already validated programs.
Configuration options
Standard equipment includes BBT40 spindle, 30-tool drum-type changer, CTS and 10,000 rpm spindle head with 15/18.5 kW motor.
CNC control options (Heidenhain, Fagor and Siemens) and other customizations are agreed with Vurcon's technical sales team according to the type of work and the workshop's requirements.
