3-axis machining center Vurcon VL-116
3-axis vertical machining center with 610x1300 mm table and 1100/610/630 mm travels, with BBT40 spindle at 10,000 rpm
The 3-axis machining center Vurcon VL-116 sits between the VL-106 (1000 mm in X) and the VL-127 (1200 mm in X) as the intermediate model in the vertical machining center range. With 1100 mm of X travel, 610 mm in Y and 630 mm in Z, it is designed for workshops that find the VL-106 too small but do not need the size of the VL-127.
Its table of 610x1300 mm and the 7,500 kg of own weight combine usable capacity with a compact footprint (3404x2679x2850 mm) that makes integration easier in plants with limited space. The spindle head with taper BBT40 at 10,000 rpm and motor of 11/15 kW (S1/S6) is optimized for precision machining of steel, aluminum and cast iron with consistent surface finishes in continuous production cycles.
What jobs is this model ideal for?
-
Medium-size dies and molds: Mold bases, cavities and inserts where the 1100 mm of X travel covers most of the dies and molds common in the sector.
-
Automotive parts: Machined steel and aluminum components for manufacturers and Tier 2/3 suppliers that require dimensional consistency in medium batches.
-
Aerospace components: Aluminum and light alloy parts where the spindle of 10,000 rpm allows high cutting speeds and good finishes.
-
Steel and cast iron machining: General workshop jobs where the rigidity of the BBT40 spindle head and the 11/15 kW of the motor provide capacity for demanding cuts.
Key profitability points
-
BBT40 taper with 10,000 rpm: The dual-contact taper (face and taper) improves toolholder rigidity compared with the standard BT40, reducing vibrations at high speed and extending tool life in finishing.
-
30-tool drum-type magazine: Capacity for complex sequences and several part families without manual tool replacement, maximizing spindle hours in production.
-
11/15 kW motor with S6 duty: The 11 kW continuous power and 15 kW intermittent power make it possible to handle both occasional roughing and sustained finishing without overheating.
-
7,500 kg construction in a compact footprint: Enough structural mass to absorb vibrations while keeping dimensions compatible with small and medium-size workshops.
-
610x1300 mm table with 1100 mm X travel: The length-to-width ratio is designed for elongated parts, common in die making and mechanical engineering.
Control and ease of use
The VL-116 is available with the most demanded controls on the market: Heidenhain, Fanuc, Siemens, Fagor depending on configuration, and compatible with the most widely used CAM post-processors. This choice makes integration with the workshop's existing fleet easier and shortens the operator's learning curve.
