The Vurcon PL-61Mx1500 is the variant with a distance between centers of 1,500 mm of the PL-61M, the intermediate position in Vurcon's live-tooling series. It combines the ability to machine parts up to 1,420 mm maximum turning length with the versatility of the 12-position VDI30F live-tool turret and the C-axis, on a bed of 3,6 x 1,7 x 1,7 m and 3,700 kg.

Key profitability points

• 12-position VDI30F live-tool turret with C-axis: rotation speed up to 5,000 rpm, 3.3 kW power and maximum torque 20 Nm. The standard configuration includes one axial live toolholder, one radial live toolholder and eight turning toolholders. Combined with the headstock C-axis, it makes it possible to drill and mill at any angular position without removing the part.

• Meehanite (FC-30) structure hardened to HB190: structural parts made of high-quality cast iron, hardened and tempered to relieve stresses. The oversized, rigidly ribbed structure ensures optimal stability and rigidity for combined operations.

• Headstock with separate spindle and motor: 11 kW main motor with electronic variable-speed drive and no ranges. The belt drive thermally isolates the spindle from the motor, helping to maintain accuracy during long production runs. The spindle nose A2-8, the bore of ø82 mm and the bar capacity of ø78 mm accommodate most common bar stock and workholding devices.

Control and ease of use

The PL-61Mx1500 is equipped with the CNC control Fagor 8060 Elite, designed for flat-bed lathes and industrial production. It provides Sercos III architecture over Ethernet at 100 MBd, nanometric resolution and a web-based HMI that simplifies programming. Standard equipment includes electronic handwheels and a joystick kit which allow manual operation with great sensitivity for approaches. The lubrication system is configured from the control and runs automatically.

Configuration options

The PL-61Mx1500 accepts specific upgrades depending on the sector and the type of production: hydraulic kit (hydraulic chuck and/or tailstock) to automate clamping and allow automatic bar feeding, belt-type chip conveyor for intensive machining or abrasive materials, and additional packages of live toolholders according to the predominant operations in the workshop.
