The Vurcon PL-61Mx1000 is the variant with a distance between centers of 1,000 mm of the PL-61M, the model in the Vurcon flat-bed range that features a live-tool turret and C-axis. It retains all the capabilities of the PL-61M series on a compact bed —3,1 x 1,7 x 1,7 m and 3,500 kg—, ideal for workshops that need combined turning and milling of medium-size parts with limited space.

What jobs is this model ideal for?

• Parts with combined turning-milling operations: shafts with keyways, radial holes, milled flats or off-center slots. The live-tool turret with 12 VDI30F positions and the C-axis of the headstock allow the complete part to be machined without removing it from the chuck.

• 12-position VDI30F live-tool turret with 3.3 kW power: rotation speed up to 5,000 rpm and maximum torque of 20 Nm for milling, drilling and tapping on the radial or axial axis. Integration with the C-axis turns the lathe into a machine capable of covering a good part of the operations that previously required an additional machining center.

• Meehanite (FC-30) structure hardened to HB190: the structural parts are made of high-quality cast iron, hardened and tempered to relieve stresses. The oversized, rigidly ribbed structure ensures stability and accuracy in combined operations.

• Headstock with separate spindle and motor, belt drive: 11 kW main motor with electronic variable-speed drive and no speed ranges. Thermal isolation between motor and spindle helps maintain accuracy during long working days. The spindle nose A2-8, the spindle bore of ø82 mm and the bar capacity of ø78 mm accommodate common bar stock and workholding devices.

• Ball screws and guideways sized for combined production: ball screws of ø25x5 mm in X and ø40x10 mm in Z, distance between guideways of 210/390 mm and X-axis travel of 290 mm. An assembly designed to maintain rigidity in operations that combine turning and milling in the same setup.

Control and ease of use

The PL-61Mx1000 is equipped with the CNC control Fagor 8060 Elite, designed for lathes with C-axis and live tooling. It features a Sercos III architecture over industrial Ethernet and nanometric resolution on the feedback inputs. The kit with joystick and electronic handwheels makes manual operation easy, with great sensitivity for approaches and fine adjustments. Programming combines guided turning cycles with specific functions for milling, C-axis and live tools.

Configuration options

The PL-61Mx1000 accepts specific upgrades to increase productivity: hydraulic kit (hydraulic chuck, hydraulic tailstock or both) to automate clamping, belt-type chip conveyor for intensive machining, automatic bar feeding and additional packages of live toolholders depending on the sector and the predominant type of part.
