Vurcon EL-50x1000 electronic flat-bed lathe
Compact variant of the EL-50 series for electronic cycle production
The Vurcon EL-50x1000 is the version with a maximum part length of 1,000 mm of the EL-50 model, the mid-range position in the Vurcon family of electronic cycle lathes. It combines the operation of an electronic lathe —simpler programming than a full CNC— with a maximum swing over bed of 500 mm and a main motor of 11/15 kW, on a compact bed aimed at short parts and versatile work.
What jobs is this model ideal for?
-
Maintenance and repair workshops: machining of shafts, bushings and turned parts up to 1,000 mm in length, where operating with predefined electronic cycles is faster than manual CNC programming.
-
Assisted conventional turning: replacing traditional manual lathes with an electronic solution with continuous speed control and automated cycles, while keeping the familiar operation of a flat-bed lathe.
-
Production of one-off parts and prototypes: jobs where flexibility and quick setup are more important than the series repeatability of a full CNC.
-
Technical training centers: a natural transition between conventional lathe and CNC, ideal for industrial turning courses where students learn the cycles without the complexity of G-code.
Key profitability points
-
Spindle with continuous speed control up to 2,000 rpm: no speed steps and a spindle bore of 80/104 mm that allows working with bar stock and adjusting cutting conditions without stopping the machine to change ranges. It optimizes times in production with frequent changes of material or diameter.
-
11/15 kW main motor with 650 N·m of torque: power matched to machining medium-size parts in steels and non-ferrous alloys, with enough torque for demanding roughing operations over the model's usual diameter range.
-
Servo motors on X and Z axes: the servo motors of 1.3 kW (X) and 2.3 kW (Z) ensure accuracy and repeatability without the complexity of a full CNC, offering the right balance between productivity and ease of operation. The spindle nose A8/A11 accepts the series' standard chucks and workholding devices.
Control and ease of use
The EL-50x1000 uses a system of electronic cycles that simplifies operation compared with a full CNC: the operator sets up each machining cycle through direct parameters —diameter, depth, feed, speed— without needing to program in G-code. This way of working suits workshops used to the conventional lathe that are moving to electronic control, and production of varied parts where programming time is critical. Continuous spindle speed control eliminates interruptions for range changes during machining.
Configuration options
The EL-50 range accepts specific configurations depending on the sector and the predominant type of part: additional tooling, workholding devices and adaptations to the workshop's usual material and diameter. The mechanical structure shared with the other EL-50 variants makes upgrades, maintenance and spare parts availability from stock easier.
